Hotel Nacional, Havana, Cuba
Where Mob Bosses Met Movie Stars

This legendary Art Deco palace has been Havana's most famous hotel since 1930, and boy does it have stories to tell! Everyone from Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner to Lucky Luciano has walked these halls, and the mafia famously held their infamous 1946 conference right here in the ballroom. The terrace overlooking the Malecón still serves the same daiquiris that Hemingway knocked back while plotting his next novel, and you can practically feel the ghosts of Old Havana's golden age in every marble corridor.
Tip
Head to the bar terrace at sunset for the best mojitos in the city - ask for the same table where Churchill used to sit when he visited in the 1940s.
